James Ward, assistant vice president for research computing, has spent more than 30 years in higher education information technology and provides strategic and operational leadership for the university’s electronic research administration systems and the use of information technology throughout the research enterprise. He oversees all aspects of the divisions of Research Information Systems Security and Compliance (RISSC) and Research Information Systems (RIS). The RISSC provides guidance to the research enterprise on IT security, infrastructure availability, and data management and analytics. The RIS develops and manages all electric research administration systems used throughout the research enterprise. He is a graduate of VCU and holds a master’s in computer science and an MBA.
