To facilitate this commitment, Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has entered a new research paradigm with the initiation of the One VCU Research Strategic Priorities Plan (SRPP) in July 2021. Further catalyzing the commitment of VCU, with the approval of the VCU Board of Visitors, President Michael Rao, Ph.D., has authorized the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) to invest $10 million in Phase One of the SRPP implementation during FY 2022. Aligning the strengths of VCU’s faculty, staff, students and our greater community, each of the SRPP initiatives (enriching the human experience, establishing a just and equitable society, optimizing health, and supporting sustainable energy and environments) recognize diversity, equity and inclusion as imperatives to success, as does each of the available funding opportunities.

The One VCU Research Strategic Priorities Plan funds 2021-2022 request for applications outlines the priorities, proposal requirements, deadlines and application processes for the: VCU Accelerate Fund (Accelerate), VCU Breakthroughs Fund (Breakthroughs), and an expanded VCU Quest Fund (Quest, formerly the Presidential Research Quest Fund). A partnership with the Office of the Provost provides for the VCU Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Fund (2022 RFA).
