Ivelina Metcheva biography
With more than 20 years of experience in technology transfer and licensing, Dr. Metcheva, assistant vice president for innovation, provides strategic and operational leadership for the university technology commercialization. She manages all technology commercialization activities at VCU Tech Transfer and Ventures, the team responsible for the protection, marketing and licensing of university inventions, promoting industry collaborations, and supporting new ventures creation. She has oversight of faculty entrepreneurship and new start-up support programs, regional and state-wide innovation collaborations, and strategic relationships with industry. With the Division of Community Engagement, Ivelina co-led the application process and achieved an Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities' Innovation and Economic Prosperity designation for VCU. She holds a Ph.D. from the Institute of Molecular Biology of the Bulgaria Academy of Sciences and an MBA from the College of William and Mary.
